Pip Foweraker: CEO

Prior to working directly in GCR, Pip worked in governance and operational roles in the finance sector, including in taxation, superannuation, infrastructure, building and planning authorities, and in the Australian State and Federal Public Service. As COO of Ashgro, a fiscal sponsor specialising in AI safety research, he onboarded and managed projects funded by Coefficient Giving, the Survival and Flourishing Fund, and other GCR funders. He is also Executive Director of Certes, a similar nonprofit being founded to focus on GCR research and risk management in Australia.

Board of Directors

Beacon's board comprises three directors, who between them hold the officer positions of President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Pip Foweraker: President & Director

Bryce Robertson: Secretary & Director. After the release of GPT-4 in 2023, Bryce pivoted his career to work on reducing AI existential risk. He now manages AISafety.com.

Chris Lonsberry: Treasurer & Director. 15+ years in technology and operations. Former director of AI Safety Quest, a nonprofit building the AI safety skills pipeline, and involved in scaling multiple AI safety projects. Now advising across several organisations in the space.

The executive and board regularly consult experts on particular technical matters, who are acknowledged in relevant publications as appropriate.

Governance

Beacon's governance documents were drafted by outside counsel and adopted by unanimous written consent of the Board in lieu of a meeting, effective 23 March 2026. Seven instruments were adopted and all seven remain in force: the bylaws, conflict of interest policy, whistleblower policy, document retention policy, anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy, anti-harassment and sexual misconduct prevention policy, and code of conduct. Copies are available on request. Beacon Institute for Global Catastrophic Risk is a Delaware nonprofit nonstock corporation. The IRS confirmed Beacon's 501(c)(3) public charity status in June 2026, effective 10 February 2026 (EIN 35-2944556).

Conflict of interest policy

Beacon maintains a conflict of interest policy that applies to all directors, officers, and key personnel. The full text is not yet published; it is available on request from .
